NM State won a close baseball game against New Mexico on April 28, scoring six runs in the tenth inning to secure a 16-15 victory at Lobo Baseball Field. The Aggies improved their record to 19-24 and remained undefeated against the Lobos this season.

The game saw several lead changes, with both teams exchanging runs throughout. NM State initially took the lead but trailed by three runs after four innings. Camden Kaufman hit a three-run home run in the sixth to tie the score, though New Mexico regained an advantage shortly after. In the seventh inning, NM State responded with four runs, helped by key plays from Steve Solorzano and Boston Vest.

New Mexico answered back in their half of the seventh, taking a one-run lead into the eighth. Solorzano’s RBI helped send the contest into extra innings. In the decisive tenth inning, Bryce Campbell delivered a bases-clearing double as part of a rally that brought home six runs for NM State.

Despite allowing five runs in New Mexico’s final at-bat, Dylan Weekly managed to record the last out and preserve NM State’s win. The Aggies collected thirteen hits during the game; Kaufman led with five RBIs while Campbell added three more.

The Aggies’ sixteen runs were their highest total in this rivalry since 2022 and marked only their third straight win over New Mexico since they won six consecutive games between 2017 and 2019. Other notable performances included Tommy Meluskey’s multiple stolen bases and Jonatan Clough’s career-high three walks.

Looking ahead, NM State continues its midweek success under coach Jake Angier and maintains momentum as it approaches upcoming matchups.
