The New Mexico State Aggies lost to Delaware 11–2 in a softball game played on April 25 at the NM State Softball Complex. The matchup was the second in their final home series of the season.
This game was important for both teams as they looked to finish their seasons strongly. The Aggies were hoping to build on a win from Friday night but were unable to keep pace with Delaware’s offense.
Delaware scored three runs in the first inning and continued adding runs through the middle innings. The Aggies managed to score twice, once when Skye Johnson came home on an error in the fourth inning, and again when Kendal Lunar hit a sacrifice fly that brought Destan Burks across home plate in the fifth. Despite some opportunities at bat, New Mexico State could not close the gap.
Among individual performances, Johnson went two-for-three with a double and scored one run. Burks finished one-for-two and also scored, while Lunar recorded an RBI with her sacrifice fly.
The Aggies will play their final home game of the season against Delaware on Sunday, April 26 at 11 a.m., which will also serve as Senior Day for recognizing graduating players after the contest.
