NM State lost to rival New Mexico 12-6 in Albuquerque on May 12, closing out the four-game season series with a 3-1 record in the Rio Grande Rivalry. The defeat drops the Aggies’ overall record to 19-32.

The game began with NM State taking an early lead after Aidan Taclas doubled home Jonatan Clough in the first inning. Chris Daniels added a two-run home run in the fifth, giving NM State momentum midway through the contest.

New Mexico responded by scoring throughout the middle innings and broke open the game with a seven-run seventh inning. In response, Easton Rulli hit a three-run homer for NM State in the eighth inning, but it was not enough to close the gap. The Aggies collected ten hits during the game, led by Clough’s three-hit performance and multi-hit games from both Taclas and Rulli.

Rulli’s home run marked his fifth of the season, making him one of four Aggies with at least five homers this year. It was also his ninth multi-hit outing of the campaign. Clough recorded his fourteenth multi-hit game of the year and has six games with three or more hits. Taclas now has fifteen multi-hit games this season, ranking second among Aggie players behind Steve Solorzano.

Other notable statistics include NM State reaching double-digit hits for their twenty-fourth time this season and ending their road schedule with a 5-20 record. The team has hit multiple home runs in six of its last thirteen games. Pitcher Bradyn Barnes matched his season high by throwing four innings on Tuesday night.

The Aggies finish their midweek schedule at an even 6-6 for this year.
